Short answer: Most people should be on Plus ($20/mo). Pro is for people who run Codex, ChatGPT Work or deep research for hours a day. Start with Pro 100 ($100/mo) and move up only if you hit its limits. Pro 200 ($200/mo) gives more usage. Pro 500 ($500/mo) is the only one with Ultrafast. If you had Pro 200 before late September, your bigger allowance ended October 29, 2026, so it's a good moment to check whether you still need it.

OpenAI doesn't publish the allowances as fixed numbers. Fast mode uses your allowance at 2.5 times the Standard rate, and Ultrafast at 8 times.
What changes for Pro 200 on October 30
- If you had Pro 200 at any point from September 22 to 10 a.m. Pacific on September 29, 2026, you kept the previous, larger allowance through October 29, 2026.
- From then on your plan uses the lower allowance that new Pro 200 subscriptions get. The price stays $200 a month, and the plan doesn't turn into Pro 500.
- New Pro 200 subscriptions are open again, with the lower allowance.
- OpenAI emails affected users the details. Its help page doesn't list the new allowance as a number, so we don't either.
